Safeguarding for Managers – Level 4

Course Overview:
This course
is designed for senior staff and safeguarding leads responsible for overseeing safeguarding policy, procedures, reporting, and culture within health, social care, or education settings. This advanced course supports compliance with the Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, KCSIE, and CQC or Ofsted standards. It equips managers with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to coordinate safeguarding practices, manage complex concerns, and contribute to a safe organisational culture.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the strategic and legal responsibilities of managers in safeguarding

  • Review and implement safeguarding policies and procedures across their service

  • Identify signs of abuse and neglect in both children and adults at risk

  • Lead safeguarding responses and manage referrals to external agencies

  • Apply thresholds and decision-making frameworks (e.g., MASH, LADO, MARAC)

  • Support staff through supervision, training, and whistleblowing procedures

  • Manage allegations against staff in line with safer working practices

  • Promote an open, accountable, and person-centred safeguarding culture

  • Prepare for inspections and demonstrate safeguarding compliance
