
Nutrition and Fluids
Course Overview:
This Course is designed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the vital role that nutrition and hydration play in maintaining health and wellbeing, particularly for individuals receiving care or support and is ideal for care staff working in residential, Nursing, domiciliary, or supported living environments who need to ensure that service users receive adequate nutrition and hydration in line with CQC and regulatory expectations.
Participants will explore key dietary principles, the importance of fluids, recognising malnutrition or dehydration, and how to support individuals with specific dietary needs.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
Understand the importance of balanced nutrition and adequate hydration
Recognise the signs of poor nutrition, dehydration, and associated health risks
Support individuals with specific dietary requirements (e.g. allergies, diabetes, cultural preferences)
Understand how to encourage healthy eating and fluid intake in care settings
Maintain accurate food and fluid intake charts where required
Apply person-centred approaches when planning meals and supporting nutrition
